Indian
Point Park is located across the bay from downtown Corpus Christi and the
USS Lexington Museum. State Highway 361 leads over the Harbor Bridge to
Portland from Corpus Christi. The causeway crosses over Corpus Christi Bay
to Portland. Take the first exit once the bay has been crossed. The Indian
Point Pier exit is well marked but comes up quick.
Like
so many other spots in South Texas the fishing is good year round. Indian
Point Pier is best fished in Winter and Spring. Prevailing Southeast winds
blow in the summer which can make the Bay rough and the fishing difficult
but not impossible. The pier not only offers catches of redfish, trout,
flounder, black drum, croaker and sand trout.
This
park is one of the most scenic in the area. In addition to the pier the park
offers a walking trail and several birding stations and elevated boardwalks
for bird watching. The Sunset Lake sanctuary is adjacent to the park.
This lake has several walking trails and is accessible for fishing, kayaks,
hiking and birding
